Money Heist: A Netflix Series

Money Heist is a very popular Spanish crime drama series. The Spanish name for the television series is “Lacasa de Papel,” which means “House of Paper.”

The TV series was created by Alex Pina and is a Netflix original. In the crime drama series, we get to see a group of robbers undertake two heists. The first heist was on the Royal Mint of Spain, while the second one was on the bank of Spain. Both these heists were led by Professor, a character played so well by Álvaro Morte.

 

Initially, Money Heist was supposed to be a limited series and the intention was to tell the story in just two parts. That saw the first 15 episodes being run from the 2nd of May 2017, all through 23 November 2017. This was on Antena 3, which is a Spanish network.

However, later that year, global streaming rights were acquired by Netflix. Netflix then went on to re-cut the series. Thus, 22 episodes were created from the original 30 episodes. The first part of the series was then released globally by Netflix on the 20th of December 2017.

On the 6th of April 2018, Netflix released the second part of the Spanish series. A lot of viewers loved it, which increased its popularity worldwide and so, Netflix decided to renew it. This time, Netflix increased the budget to make a total of 16 episodes for part 3 and part 4.

This saw the first 8 episodes of the renewal being aired in part 3 on the 19th of July 2019. On the 3rd of April 2020, part 4 of the series was released.

In addition, on the same day, Netflix premiered a documentary with the producers of the show, as well as the cast. The documentary was titled Money Heist: The Phenomenon.

Popularity of Money Heist

The first and second part of Money Spain were filmed in Madrid, Spain. However, part 3 saw major portions of the crime series being filmed in Florence, Italy, as well as Panama, Thailand.

In order to make the Money Heist story sync and make sense, the series features a narrative that is told in real-time. Also, there are numerous flashbacks in the series, as well as hidden character motivations.

 

Money Heist Viewers are also treated to some time-jumps, as well as narrations where there is complexity. Tokyo, played by Úrsula Corberó, is the one who narrates the story from her own perspective.
